Did Racism Play In Cambridge Police Arrest Of Gates?

On July 20, 2009, African American Professor Henry Gates was arrested for disorderly conduct. He had to break into his own home, after returning from a trip to find his door “jimmied.” Police were called and patrolmen Carlos Figueroa and Sgt. James Crowley found him inside his home. Crowley asked for ID and from here the issues become disputed.

Crowley and his colleague state that Gates become hostile attacking them verbally as being racist. Gates states that he displayed his ID. The officers says that he “followed” them out of his home, and was then arrested (It should be noted that they could not arrest him in his home). Gates swears that he asked for Crowley’s name or ID and this cause Crowley to become upset.

We all know that President Obama is a friend of Gates and called Crowley’s action stupid.

This was a very potent statement obviously for any sitting President to make. But those who are complaining about this remark are the same folks who had supported every ignorant and yes, stupid, remark and action that George Bush Jr made during his 2 terms. What is more important here is not to get trapped up in what the President stated, but the deeper issue of what causes incidents like this or worst to occur throughout the nation?

Every single day there are African Americans who are arrested or pulled over or detained by European American Police officers who do so because they find them to be suspicious characters. These African Americans develop a sense that they are targets of “Whites” who wish to oppress them. i.e. not allow them to freely go about as others or discourage them from interacting in community. Many feel that its done to find some reason to imprison them.

Police officers for their part, are trained to look for suspicious or criminal behavior, and by necessity this develops certain stereotypes about what makes up potential criminal or criminal behavior or looks.  Furthermore, the police are always employed directly by, and report to the establishment. Most citizens are not directly tied, but some are perceived to be more closely tied than others.

In the US European Americans have made up the bulk of establishment heads as well as workers. African Americans, Latinos et al have been much less so. But as Dr Rashid and I point out very clearly in our book: 20th Century American Struggle, 21st Century Hope, similar systems exist throughout Europe, Asia and African where folks of the same skin color are in conflict with one another. Professor Gates of course comes from a “class” of people who have traditionally been discriminated against and oppressed. Police officer Crowley both belongs to the dominating ruling class, plus the traditional enforcers of the dominating class. It is his job to enforce for the ruling class, and although he is not a racist, he is duty-bound to follow their dictates. Subconsciously, Crowley knows that most African Americans are not part of the dominating class and his reactions are not out of race, but of class. In fact, if we analyze most incidents of this sort, we will find that the vast majority is based on class, not race.

President Obama was correct. Crowley, being an officer of the law, has professional training to know that emotional situations will arise and he has a second tier duty to citizens. And if he runs across a citizen who is emotional as he claims Gates was, he should have ignored him and left without further issues. Gates obviously let his emotions get to him. Anyone who has ever asked Police for their badge or ID # knows that retaliation follows usually, especially if you are a minority. European Americans can ask, without retaliation, in general if they look like they are part of the establishment–i.e. tax payers etc–but those who do not fit the role are subject to same retaliation as minorities face.

Bottom line. Racism did not actually play a role in Professor Henry Gates arrest, but mere classism; which, if you are the recipient of, feels just as nasty as racism, sexism or any other discrimination. Because it is in fact discrimination that is actually more prevalent and detrimental then other forms of discriminations because it is normally guised as something else and is an area that the law has not seen fit to protect.

The “Christian Right” Are Not Followers Of Jesus

For years we have heard the media define those who supported Ronald Reagan and Bush 1 and 2 as the “Christian Right” at the exclusion of Christians who are Independents and yes, Democrats. What is a critical failure is how they are portrayed as actual followers of Jesus Christ.

Personally I am offended because I am one who aspires to be a followers of Jesus’ principles, although I fall dramatically short. The point is that anyone who actually reads the biblical accounts of Jesus knows that he was not a Son of Man, nor Son of God, who called on our lower deprived nature. Contrary, he invoked in us to strive beyond the lower “worldly” part of us, to be in the world, but not of it.

Recorded history explicitly demonstrates that Republicans, since the Goldwater-Nixon days, have traditionally been calling on us, as they are now, to focus on getting more money in our individual pockets if we earn above 250k annually (greed); to see ourselves as separate and different from “immigrants” minorities et al (racism); restrict women roles in public business and government (sexist); believe that we are inherently superior then other humans in the world (Colonialist); do not help others who cannot help themselves (selfishness) and of course their cornerstone is fear (strife).

These are in no way principles of Jesus. By using the term “Christian” the media implies that these are followers of Jesus when in fact they are in no way followers or disciples. The original followers of Jesus did not call themselves Christians, but disciples. The word Christian has been corrupted severely due to this. Jesus of course would not vote neither for Democrat nor Republican, but if one evaluates how many of his principles and precepts are being implemented by either political party it looks like Democrats prevail. Just look:

Greed: Woe to you, teachers of the law and Pharisees, you hypocrites! You clean the outside of the cup and dish, but inside they are full of greed and self-indulgence. Matthew 23:25 and many others.

Right now these same folks are highjacking, again, our discussion on health care. They are poisoning the gullible minds with fear and insensitivity. We need to emphasize that these organizations and persons may present themselves as “Christian” however, they are anything but.  I have to devote extra time in pointing this out because the masses are in fact being influenced by their lies. CNN is reporting that there is a growing number of people who are against health care reform. This is incredible! Why cannot these people recognize that those who are running these commercials against the change are in fact against change because they are making so much money from it. They suck trillions more than any universal health system would. They work very closely with  insurance companies, HMOs and others. Both of these industries would be reined in. A government system would introduce price reductions for the high rates you and I pay for health care insurance.

You notice how those who are complaining now about the current attempts of President Obama was violently silent about HMOs putting profits before patients health? They support the HMOs right to determine what treatment a patient can receive and where from, and they are now saying that government plan would do exactly what HMOs currently do.

So if you want to truly and objectively know how you should feel about this issue, ask yourself: What would Jesus do? Not the Christian Right.

The Links Between Health Care and Racism

What no one has publicly acknowledged, is how the opposition to health care for all is very closely tied to racism and the like.

I have insurance coverage that allows me to go to any doctor in the U.S. in order to handle my health issues. It’s something that I do not think of much at all, at least not until I think of those who do not have it, but in listening to the latest attacks on President Obama’s efforts, I see so clearly the footprints of the same minds that drives wedges between Americans based on Race, Culture, Religion, Sex etc.

We Americans suffer from gullibility and stupidity. We do not look below the surface of what comes at us. We give too much credibility to those who look like us or those we have come to follow. Yes I know, mostly 95% of the masses are sheep who must follow otherwise they will feel or actually be lost, but does a sheep always have to be a sheep all the time?

What is wrong with Americans helping other Americans secure health care? We support military welfare and the arms industry which spreads weapons around the globe that kills thousands each year. We support a prison industrial complex which produces the majority of criminals, homosexuals and racists who are injected back into our society each year. We support auto-companies who are refusing to improve emissions in order to support the oil companies that collectively poison our air. We support the drug industry that ensures 80% of us have drugs in our system 300 days a year. We even support large agricultural corporations who are not only putting the family farms out of commissions, but altering the food supply not to improve our health, but to secure a patent that will give them the authority to charge for foods that God provided to us freely.

Listen closely to the hatred that spews out of the opponents of health care for all. Its not love, but greed. Follow the money…. Those who are attacking the plan will lose billions and trillions. They will not be able to have run away cost. It’s really a system designed for the elite of the elite. They are using the same fear and scare tactics that Republicans have used skillfully to divide our nation into hating or disliking one another.

Let’s stop being so damn mean, and start being our brothers and sisters keeper.

The Raise Of Homosexuals In America

History shows us that there has been a rise of homosexuality in various lands prior to modern times, predominately in European lands. In America, there was no significant public showing of homosexuals until the 1800s. Prior to that those who may have felt inclined kept it to themselves. And as long as they did, no one else was inclined to imitate them.

Before the 1800, homosexuals kept their activities mostly on the sea voyage which would have them locked up with men for numerous months and many times years. Most of these Sea Homosexuals returned to land and developed families, however, a slow growing number psychogenitically passed their inclinations on to others.

At the same time the Catholic church relocated many priest to America where they practice homosexuality among themselves and ultimately indoctrinated their young boy students with this trait.

But the real dramatically rise comes from the most quietest and most under-the-table area. Namely, Prisons.

During the 1700s there were no homosexual activities going on, but after the Civil War, the first prison boom would occur where populations increased. Then after the Federal Government made the deal with Southerners to pull out of the south so they could retake political and governmental machines back over, laws were enacted to luck up massive numbers of African Americans in order to send them out to work the farms of former slave owners. Only now the State cared for their well being.

By the early 1900s men were being raped in prison by other men while at the same time men were not allowed to have sexual relations with women. The so-called “Christian Right” are both the biggest advocates for locking people up in prison and hating the rise of homosexuality. They have a kind of hatred towards those who commit crimes and part of the punishment is to take away their right to have normal sexual relations, while condoning the abnormal sexual relations that they also hate. Without the “Puritan” like mindset which believes that sex is a dirty ungodly act, the US may not have the largest homosexual population in the world.

That’s right. America has the most homosexuals. This is a statistic that has been hitherto kept very quiet. Really, its been a social Trojan Horse that is breaking out of its shell with a vengence. It’s a phenom that seems to recur with societies who reach a certain level of development and is either the cause of their downfall or a sign that they are on the way down. But the significant thing here is not simply to point out that America has so many homosexuals, but to point out the hypocrisy of those who on the one hand criticize guys for being a product of the environment, and the stupity of those who design and maintain our penal systems to produce such.

Of course if those who push prisons, as we know them, are in fact homosexuals themselves and they simply have an agenda to produce as many as possible, then this all makes plenty of sense. By the 1990s, U.S. State and Federal prisons were producing over 30% annual growth to the homosexual population, growing from less than .5% before 1900 to over 5%. Today, men and women who are placed in prison for the first time and had never participated in a homosexual act, now stand an approximately 70% chance in performing or being part of such acts. Approximately 4 to 6 men out of every 10 who spends 3.5 years or more in incarcerated will be involved with homosexual act.

Now get this.

The vast majority of people in America who are against homosexuality, homosexuals or gays, are the very same folks who supports, in varying degrees, the incarceration of Americans without God-given natural sexual relations. i.e. abrogation of their right to have sex with the opposite sex.

It would not be an exaggeration to say that American prisons are, in part, manufacturing centers for homosexuals. Prisons provides our society with thousands of newly minted gay people each year who reenter society to train others to become gay like them, or at minimum, to perceive their lifestyle as natural.

Obviously, this is a very superficial overview of Gay history in America, but it highlights things that are overlooked or not readily admitted. Bottom line: if you are one of those folks who dislikes, hates or otherwise do not accept homosexuality, then you should understand that they are not the ones who you should hate, but either yourself or others who have designed, operates and maintains the American Prison Industrial complex that is manufacturing them quite efficiently.

President Obama’s Life Is On The Line–Americans Rise Up In Arms

No matter how much I intellectually know that most people are sheep and selfish, I am profoundly surprised that no Americans have clearly acknowledged that Barrack Obama’s life is in danger from more than just the Ku Klux Klan, and their type.

No matter how much we love our America, it is basically the most violent country around. Domestically we practice a kind of collective self hatred where we are mistrustful, dishonest and even dislike each other although we do not personally know each other. Everyday hundreds of Americans are being injured or killed in acts of violence and 99% of it goes unnoticed or unreported. We program our children with more violence than we teach non-violence. We’re motivated to be nice usually when there is something in it for us. And we do not symphathize with others who have suffered physical, financial or other types of suffering until we face it. Obviously there are exceptions.

This is a general overview of our social pool from whence Barrack Obama must lead.

Right now, in Washington, D.C. there are a multitude of agents who work for the Military Armament industry, Drugs (i.e. Pharmaceuticals); Prison Industrial Complex (former Presents Bushes are prime owners); Medical; Banking and other lesser industries. Each and every day they put a full court press on the President and his staff to act on things which would benefit them and, 9 times out of 10, not benefit common Americans. Americans have a few groups who do their best. Believe it or not Ralph Nadar and his elk are significant in the consumer rights area; the Center for Public Integrity another; those who fight against gun control, Citizens United for the Reform of Errants; NAACP and others. The problem is that those who are advocating on behalf of Americans do not command the billions of dollars which gives access to the back halls of Congress and the Presidency.

The fact of the matter is that President Obama would be assassinated if he truly did what was truly right for Americans, and he knows this. Americans do not understand this however. If we did, we would all form a march on Washington, totting shotguns, and demand that the entrenched politicians refrain from catering to the wealthy and highly connected or we’re taking our government back by backing Barrack Obama.

No matter what ideology you have hitherto espoused, we as Americans will not have another chance as we do now, for at least another 100 years. President Obama has committed himself to change, and if Americans rose up in overwhelming mass to support him in a way which showed the mighty power brokers that we too are willing to put our lives on the line for change, then he would then be able to weld the influence that We The People need him to. Short of this, we may as well not complain about what he is or is not doing. He himself cannot call for such support while in the den of lions, but we can if we only truly Hope.
