Insight Beyond Sight

Going Beyond Old Mental Constructs

Time For Revolutionary Healing

More than 128 million Americans voted this year. This is about the same number who turned out in 2004; millions of Republicans stayed home and were replaced by a massive amount of new, first time voters. What is interesting is that 56 million Euro-Americans did not vote for President Elect Obama. Most of them shall sooner or later come to recognize his superior qualities and develop an affection, if not outright love for him. However, there are millions who will resist the fact that he truly loves them and our country. We have, after all, not elected a leader like him since John F. Kennedy. Some may say not since Abraham Lincoln.

A very significant issue for America now is the need for internal healing with those who not only did not vote for Obama, but those who have serious fears, dislike and even hatred due to his having brown skin.

Currently, there are hundreds of Neo Nazi, Ku Klux Klans and other like minded men who are ardently working to stir up emotions in order to recruit impressionable minds to commit acts of violence not only against African Americans and minorities, but ultimately our new President himself. America must face the fact that hate crimes are going to rise. The intelligence that the Secret Service and other law enforcement agencies have is identifying specific individuals who are fomenting hate on a level that may rival the turn of the 20th Century when the Birth of a Nation was paraded throughout America in order to scare Whites into believing that African American men were acting to destroy the fabric of American society.

It is utterly critical that we all understand that the upcoming increase of hate is driven by centuries of psychogenetic memories of White Supremacy and fears. These folks were not born with the prejudices, stereotypes and racial hang ups, but had them indoctrinated or inculcated into them.

Having Obama as our President brings a very profound sense of relief and pride. Now when I travel overseas, I shall not have to carry a badge of shame and inadequacy. I shall now carry a newfound pride in belonging to the greatest nation that has ever existed in world history. My pride is not centered in all the African-, Latino- and others who voted for him–they get no prize for voting for the obvious–but it is with those millions of young White men and women from America’s universities and new to the workforce that moves me the most.

I have written and given innumerable talks about how it will take the youth to rid America of its ignorance and privative perspective on Race. In fact, in 20th Century American Struggle, 21st Century Hope I wrote: “Children, before they are infected by the adults in their world with the biases and prejudices from generations past, behave more maturely then adults when it comes to relationships with those with other skin colors….”

Those of us who want to live in, and leave a better world, need to take intentional actions of reaching out to our American brothers and sisters who are not only bitter about Obama’s victory, but those who are being influenced by the older David Dukes of the world with the skills to manipulate them into becoming suicide assassins.

President Elect Obama will not be able to bring about change, but it can only be brought about by us. We are our brother’s keeping, irregardless of their skin color. It is time for some revolutionary healing.
